Every day this month, I’ve posted a photo of something I made that day on my facebook page, www.facebook.com/mypaperarts. It’s been both fun and stimulating, but also challenging.
The fun part was actually playing with my art each and every day, something that often falls by the wayside during the rush of everyday life.
And, since I was going to be sharing what I was playing, I tried not to be doing the same thing day after day. That’s where the stimulating came in. It forced me to try new things, even on days when I very busy with other parts of my life.
While I wish I could do art for 8 to 10 hours every day, that just doesn’t happen in my life right now.
If you know artists at all, you know we’re often our own worst critics, so you shouldn’t be surprised when I tell you that the challenging part was when I wasn’t very happy with my result, like on day 5 (I’m not posting it here, if you want to see it, you will have to check it out on facebook www.facebook.com/mypaperarts.
And, of course, actually keeping up with my challenge to myself was a bit difficult, too. But it was an experience that pushed me in new ways, and one that I am glad that I did, and has made me interested in other ways to challenge myself.
I’ve decided to give myself another challenge for November. It will be about Sharing. With Thanksgiving in November, Sharing just seemed appropriate. So, every day for the month of November, I’ll share on my facebook page the work of another artist doing something with paper, and I’ll tag the posts #MyNovemberChallenge. I invite you to join me in this challenge. You don’t even have to write a post every day. Just tag your facebook posts with #MyNovemberChallenge when they’re on the subject of Sharing.
Happy Sharing, Candy
