2017 Has Been My Year Of Grieving

You may have noticed that I haven’t been writing a lot of blog posts this past year. I’ve still been doing art, though not as much as usual. Instead, I’ve been doing a lot of personal grieving from the loss of some very dear loved ones to problems with my near vision that three eye operations have yet to improve.

The leaf of the ginkgo tree symbolizes longevity. I used gold leaf on 4″ square board. I lettered “longevity” using a white gel pen.

When you add that to traveling a good part of the year in a 19.5′ van, you may understand why my blogs have been few and far between. Now, however, I feel rested and ready to put more time into my blogging again.

This was a small little practice piece I did while practicing my Romans. The red is simply red colored pencil.

The photos here are some of the art I’ve done in the past 6 months. I’ll post more detailed information about some of them in future blog posts.

Looking forward to an invigorating and art filled 2018, Candy

  1. I’m very sorry to hear the year has been a rough one, Candy. I’m glad you’ll be posting again as I’ve missed seeing your art and projects.

  2. So sorry to hear Candy, I hope you will be well soon. Take care.

  3. I am sorry to hear that – it can be really tough. We have also had some similar experiences this year which leave me realising the ‘the future is now’!
I guess it Is good to evaluate what is important and what to let go. I hope the New Year brings you good health, peace and happiness. Take care Xx

    • Yes, Chris, the future is now. I am working to take care of me right now. I’m going to be spending more time traveling and doing personal art. It should be interesting to watch and see how my art changes. I’ve already done a bunch of petroglyph inspired cards and envelopes which I’ll be posting at a later date.

  4. So sorry to hear about your eye issues and of the loss of loved ones. Hoping the new year brings improved Health. Have missed you posting your beautiful art.

    • Luckily my own health is excellent (other than a problem with close vision in one eye). During all my caregiving and grieving, I’ve been careful to make sure I take care of me. It is nice to know I’ve been missed. I’ll be posting more of both my art and that of others soon. I so appreciate everyone who reads my blog. Thank you!
